They are not a chocolate company, but an impact company: Tony's Chocolonely. The vast majority of cocoa farmers worldwide are severely underpaid, and even 'Fairtrade' chocolate does not guarantee a living wage. That is why Tony's pays the Tony's Premium on top of the Fairtrade price. Extra impact, by bringing the money to the cocoa farmers. It is also important that internal business costs remain limited. The Tony's Chocolonely work-from-home ordering portal is an excellent example of this.

Challenges of a growing organization

Tom van Straaten, Mr. Fix-IT (IT System Engineer) at Tony's, explains it as follows: “Our organization is growing rapidly. This means that more and more equipment is needed. Think of office chairs, tables, monitors, laptops, smartphones, mice, docking stations, and much more. To manage all of this effectively, more and more people were needed internally. A new employee had to go after their ordered equipment themselves, contacting various facilitating colleagues. A costly, inefficient, and unmanageable process.”

So it had to be different.

Corona accelerated the need for change

Working from home meant that a logistical challenge arose to get all work equipment to the home office. For office chairs and tables, a well-known online consumer brand was initially chosen. However, there often turned out to be stock problems. “I still didn't have the certainty that colleagues could continue working without problems. Coordinating orders was still a hassle,” says Tom.

Tony's work-from-home ordering portal as a solution

Tom van Straaten got into a conversation with Danny Meijer, who, among others, joined Socia deals with workplace management and service provision. Soon after, the conversation followed to build the Tony's work-from-home ordering portal together, in which the following was realized, among other things:

An ordering portal in Tony's branding

“Especially when you’ve just started at Tony’s, you want to feel like you belong right away,” notes Tom. That is why the ordering portal was designed in Tony’s branding, which immediately improves the customer experience. Tom uses a nice word to call it ‘Tonyfying’.

A range of its own

Everything that needed to be orderable was together with Socia placed in the order portal.Socia “is flexible regarding what can be ordered and what we want them to deliver to us. In theory, you could even order a refrigerator,” says Tom.

A personal budget and standardization

Tom explains that at Tony's, they value equality. For instance, every employee can order the same laptop and everyone has the same personal budget. This way, costs remain demonstrably under control. Socia ensures that most orders from Tony's employees are delivered to home addresses.

Concrete results

  • Cost savings: Tom is the only person who spends only part of his time monitoring the orders.
  • Standardization: Every Tony's colleague has access to the same tools.
  • Flexibility: Even if something is temporarily out of stock, we ensure Socia for a suitable alternative.
  • Hassle-free service: Arrangements are made in advance for the delivery of desks and chairs.
  • An even better Tony's feeling: Because the work-from-home ordering portal is in the house style.

About Tony's

Tony's mission is to make 100% slave-free the norm in chocolate together. Around 1,56 million children still work under illegal conditions, and 30.000 people are victims of modern slavery. Do you want to know exactly how much impact they make? Then go to deze pagina!
